Syrian residents and the opposition expressed outrage at the beheading.

A young boy is seen on the back of a pickup truck surrounded by armed men who accuse him of being a spy and a member of the Quds Brigade, a pro-government Palestinian militia. The group no longer gets such backing. In a subsequent statement, the faction vowed to investigate all reported violations.

The video of the Palestinian boy being beheaded in Syria comes just a few weeks after another video from the terrorist group ISIS showed a group of alleged Syrian spies being beheaded. "They don't have men any more, so they've sent us children today", one of the men said.

In the grisly footage, rebels accused the boy of fighting with a pro-regime Palestinian faction known as the Al-Quds Brigade and said he was captured during fighting north of Aleppo city. One fighter shouts "we will leave no one in Handarat". After the killing, he raises the boy's head up to a cheering crowd.

The incident took place in Hanadarat, where Syrian troops have been fighting against a coalition of US-backed rebels, which includes the Nour al-Din al-Zinki as well as the Free Syrian Army. He could not confirm if the boy was a Palestinian or a child soldier, however.

The incident allegedly occurred in Handarat, near Aleppo, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the U.S. State Department said it may reconsider its affiliation and support for the Syrian opposition if the gruesome video of the death is true.

Nour al-din al-Zenki had previously been accused of committing atrocities in its stronghold of northern Aleppo.

The Nour al-Din al-Zinki Movement said it denounced and condemned "such abuses", but insisted they were "individual errors that represent neither our typical practices nor our general policies".

"All individuals who undertook the violation have been detained and turned over to the committee for investigations in accordance with the relevant legal standards", the group said in a statement.

The group criticised the "silence" of the worldwide community for allowing "war crimes", which were the "pinnacle" of brutality, committed by the Assad regime.

On Wednesday, a State Department official said the United States does not publicly identify the Syrian opposition groups that receive USA support. They lost this vetted status in September 2015.
