Hi-res curved-screen iPhone 8 could be top end model

The WSJ predicts Apple will be relying exclusively upon Samsung to manufacture the new OLED displays during the first wave of production, with the newspaper predicting that Foxconn-owned Sharp Corp and LG will play a part in the manufacturing process at a later-date.

The WSJ report contains no new details on the curved screen, saying only that Apple has not yet finalised its plans. The report also said that the device would be equipped with a multi-sensor camera and a fingerprint scanner built into the device's screen.

Samsung has also used OLED screens for some time now, while Apple screens have been "plain vanilla" LCDs. Well, 2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the first iPhone, introduced by late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs back in 2007.

Apple may use an OLED (organic light emitting diode) screen for its next iPhone instead of an LCD display, according to reports from The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. Apple could unveil an iPhone with curved screen as soon as next year.

Modi tells BJP MPs, MLAs to submit bank transaction details
Last week, AAP leaders, in a press conference, had alleged that acres of land were bought by Mr. Shah in Bihar a few days before the demonetisation announcement on November 8.

The Nikkei Asian Review made the same suggestion in August, stating then that the display would curve in at the edges. Sources also claim the Cupertino-based company is now experimenting with more than 10 iPhone prototypes. The ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 Samsung released this year and subsequently discontinued because some caught fire or exploded also had a curved screen. The only major argument for it now is to aid with VR, but that too is something Apple hasn't shown much interest in - choosing to favor augmented reality instead. It is common practice for companies like Apple to use multiple suppliers for the same component to ensure that its production plans can not be disrupted by a single supplier.

That's actually in line with previous rumors about the iPhone 8's display.

We've already heard a lot about the iPhone 8, despite the fact the phone is about a year away from release, and now we've got more rumours to add to the ever-growing pile.

The news comes amid weakening iPhone sales.

Apple iPhone 8 will be launched in two variants a 5-inch iPhone 8 and 5.8-inch iPhone 8 plus.

"We don't know whether Apple's OLED iPhones will be a hit, but if Apple doesn't walk down this path and transform itself, there will be no innovation".
