David Wright Is Injured Again, Will Likely Miss Opening Day

The Mets stalwart is back in NY for further evaluation after being diagnosed with a shoulder impingement, general manager Sandy Alderson told reporters Tuesday.

Alderson revealed that thankfully he doesn't have any structural damage in his shoulder, so there's no need for surgery of any kind at this moment. While at the time the team didn't give a timetable for Wright to return, the surgery ultimately ended his season.

Koeman: Everton FC can bridge European points gap
Tom Davies then cracked a rocket strike against the post as Everton went in at the break worthy leaders. He is strong and fast and one of the best in finishing.

The third baseman, who is now 34 years old, has played 150 games in a season just once since 2011.

Wright, who is owed $67 million over the next four seasons, had surgery in June to fix a herniated disc in his neck.

Browns awarded four compensatory draft picks
The Ravens had received at least three compensatory selections - the maximum allowed is four - in the previous four years. The Steelers previously were awarded a third-round compensatory pick in 2014 and drafted Dri Archer with that selection.

Wright was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column, in May 2015, and was sidelined more than four months of that season. He will be re-evaluated after the two weeks, and could be a designated hitter then. If Wright is forced to open the season on the disabled list, Jose Reyes would likely be the top candidate to serve as the club's primary third baseman. A career.296/.376/.491 hitter, Wright posted a.226/.350/.438 slash with seven home runs and 14 RBI past year. The Mets don't play in an American League ballpark until June 6.
