In a stunning development, Variety is reporting that Joss Whedon has been enlisted to helm a Batgirl solo feature for Warner Bros., which will be the latest entry to their ever-growing DC Films Universe. It remains unclear when the Batgirl film would go into production or hit theaters. After playing an influential part in the early success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Whedon parted ways with Marvel Studios in 2016 after the somewhat tepid reaction to Ultron.
