Suspect in Janesville Now Considered National Threat by Federal Bureau of Investigation

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said during a Friday news conference investigators determined Jakubowski, who has been "highly agitated by national politics", penned a 161-page antigovernment manifesto, which was sent to President Trump at the White House.

Police say a man named Joseph Jakubowski robbed the Armageddon Gun Shop Tuesday evening. There was a reported vehicle on fire reported a short distance away, on Pennycock Lane.

The combination of those events led Janesville School District, along with Edgerton, Milton, Delavan-Darien, Elkhorn, Jefferson, Lake Geneva, Lake Mills, Fort Atkinson and Johnson Creek, to declare a soft lockdown.

The University of Wisconsin-Rock County and Blackhawk Technical College were also closed. Officials said they are not considering these threats "terroristic" until they know more about Jakubowski's motive.

When conducting nuclear and missiles tests in recent years, it has cited what it calls increasing USA military threats. But earlier, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said it was "a type of KN-15 intermediate-range ballistic missile".

Whitewater Unified School District Administrator Mark Elworthy noted that all schools were involved in a lockdown as a result of the notification by Whitewater police that was unrelated to the "soft lockdown" that previously had been in effect due to the Janesville incident.

After school activities will still take place at area schools tonight.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - The Rock County Sheriff's Office says Joseph Jakubowski is still at large and has not been taken into custody as of Friday morning.

Federal and local law enforcement in Wisconsin are searching for a 32-year-old man they believe stole numerous guns with a possible plan to target area schools, police and government leaders. The associate also said Jakubowski had made non-specific threats toward schools and public officials, according to the sheriff.

If you have information on the crime or the person in this photo, please call Janesville Police at 755-3100. Jakubowski is considered armed and extremely unsafe.

"Please note there is no specific threat to the Watertown Unified School District at this time, but we have made a decision to put our schools in a cautionary lock and hold for the afternoon", the district said via it's Facebook page. There will be an increased Edgerton Police Department presence on the school campus.
