Mr. Adityanath has ordered 18-hour power supply in villages and 24 hours in district headquarters of the state.

After his anointment as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has withdrawn from the routine affairs of the Gorakhnath Mutt.

Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and the UP government have set a deadline of September 25, 2018 to make sure that every house in the state receives 24×7 supply of electricity.

Sharma said the BJP government had successfully provided uninterrupted 24-hour power supply at all "shaktipeeths" during the Navratri festival that ended last week.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted supply to the villages from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning so as to help the students prepare for exams.

The security cabinet said it would limit future building - where possible - to the built-up areas within existing settlements. It also said the government had approved tenders to build 2,000 new apartments from previously approved settlement projects.

The Chief Minister directed the power department to ensure that defective or burnt transformers should be replaced expeditously in rural areas so that agricultural operations do not suffer, he said. Taking a jibe at the former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Sharma said that the present government will work at the ground level which the previous government didn't do.

This will be the first time in history when UP villages will be getting an assured 18-hour power supply.

The farmers having outstanding power bills of Rs 10,000 or more will be allowed to pay the same in four installments, the cabinet decided.

Yogi Adityanath's cabinet may also approve proposal to provide potable water in the drought affected area of Bundelkhand.

The second cabinet meeting also spelt promise for the people of the state but it will be seen how much of the promises are implemented.
