At least two sharks were seen in the water in Long Beach. The advisory is set to remain in effect through Friday and beaches will remain open, OC Lifeguards wrote on Facebook.

Orange County Sheriff Deputy Brian Stockbridge, left, and pilot, Santa Ana police corporal Jeff Van Es, right, head towards Dana Point as they search for sharks in the waters off Orange County, California, on Thursday, May 11, 2017.

NewsChopper4 captured images of the sharks from the air days after 10 to 20 sharks were spotted Long Beach, prompting a shark advisory.

"You are paddle boarding next to approximately 15 great white sharks", Stockbridge said.

The sharks were seen just south of California's San Onofre State Beach, where a woman was bitten by a shark last month.

Beware of parasites in raw/undercooked fish, warn doctors
Writing in the journal BMJ Case reports , the team warn that with sushi in vogue in the west, awareness of anisakiasis is growing. An endoscopy revealed that the man did, in fact, have a large, worm-like parasite growing in an enflamed area of his gut.

He told The Times that the sharks are believed to be juvenile great whites.

Warmer waters bring out greater numbers of people, too, and they tend to go for longer swims, researchers say.

With more and more shark sightings off the Long Beach coast, beachgoers are being warned to enter the water at their own risk.

Officials say dozens of what appear to be Portuguese man-of-war have drifted ashore on SC beaches. "The sharks are as close as the surfline".

The sighting occurred while shark advisories were in place in the region.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK
SA Mental Health Commissioner Chris Burns heard from Port Lincoln and Eyre Peninsula residents at Ravendale on Monday night. Mental Health Month works not just because it is about what others can do for us, but what we can do for ourselves.

Lowe said the part that is unknown is the extent to which global climate change is affecting marine animals in and near Southern California.

It's also recommended that people stick to populated beaches and avoid remote locations, especially where rivers empty into the sea. "The other thing is, there's lots of food. So along our beaches, the stingray populations have been kind of exploding over the last 50 years".

"For a great white shark, a seal is a big juicy steak with a slice of chocolate cake", she said.

Southern California's ocean waters are warming up and its coastline is teeming with marine life - including great white sharks. "When they're babies, they're afraid of pretty much everything, so they may not really be that different from us", Lowe said.
