Modi meets German Chancellor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had a "very good interaction" when he met German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday at her country retreat near Berlin for informal talks over a private dinner.

India and Germany have over 25 Working Groups, including in areas like climate change, energy, infrastructure, and tourism.

Later in the day, both the countries are expected to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). "In the future, America will continue to be our most important partner in economic, foreign and security policy".

Remembering his last year's announcements on yoga competitions and awards, he said: "we shall gradually advance in that direction".

Earlier, ahead of his visit, he had said in a Facebook post, "I am confident that this visit will open a new chapter in our bilateral cooperation with Germany and further deepen our strategic partnership".
