Bound flight diverted after woman tries to open emergency exit door

A disruptive passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Houston forced the flight to be diverted Sunday afternoon.

KPRC spoke to an off-duty Cleveland, Texas school police officer on the flight who jumped up and pulled the woman away from the door.

Corpus Christi Airport Police told Houston's KTRK-TV that the FBI is investigating the situation.

The woman came close to opening the emergency door located near the rear of the plane said passenger Henrietta Mokwuah. According to the passenger, once on the plane, the woman wouldn't stay seated and was pacing up and down the aisle. "Erratic passenger never should have been allowed on flight". "She wrote "Help me" and her name on (beverage napkins)".

Passengers who witnessed the incident were held aside for questioning, she said, while others ate pizza in the airport provided by the airplane pilot.

Video posted to Twitter by passenger Kristy Gillentine shows security allegedly removing the woman.
