Mayor promises Stanley Cup parade, but plans unclear so far

Pittsburgh Penguins center Nick Bonino had to be shot up with medication just to celebrate with his teammates after the Penguins won the NHL Stanley Cup on Sunday night, according to Sean Gentille of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Neither team scored until former Predator Patric Hornqvist beat Pekka Rinne (PEH'-kuh REE'-nay) from a bad angle with 1:35 remaining.

A Carl Hagelin empty-netter sealed the win for Pittsburgh, making the Pens the first team to defend the title since the Detroit Red Wings in 1997-98. "It's a pretty good chance this will be my last one", said Cullen after the Penguins captured the Stanley Cup for a second straight year.

The parade after last year's championship drew about 400,000 fans, the biggest celebration for any of the team's five Stanley Cup championships. "We had a lot of injuries and things like that". Everybody cares and we obviously wanted to lift the Cup this year but it didn't happen.

The Pittsburgh Penguins forward then missed Games 3-6 despite taking part in practice and skating in the warmup before Game 4.

Hornqvist only played just over nine minutes in Game 6, the second-fewest on the team.

Like in the past season, the series was finished after the sixth game, but we have to add that the encounter at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville was exciting and thrilling up to its end.
