During Sunday's voting session, 240 out of 244 legislators approved the missile spending bill.

The legislative move by Iran follows the U.S. President Donald Trump's signing of a sanctions bill on Russia, Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on August 2. The US imposed sanctions after a ballistic missile test in January. A string of close encounters between United States ships and Iranian vessels in the Gulf in recent months has added to the tensions between the two countries.

We do not know how long it will take to normalize relations between the two States, he told the magazine International Affairs. The sanctions are also aimed at stopping Russian Federation from meddling in US elections, but Moscow denies ever doing this.
