One tonne of egg yolk liquid contaminated with the insecticide fipronil has been found in Romania, the first discovery in eastern Europe since the tainted egg scandal erupted, the veterinary health authority said Thursday, medicalxpress.com informs.

Millions of eggs and egg-based products have been pulled from European supermarket shelves in at least 11 countries, since the scandal went public August 1.
