Trump launches fresh Twitter barrage as poll rating slips

Last week's Quinnipiac University poll showed that 61 percent of Americans view Trump's White House performance unfavorably and 33 percent favorably, the lowest ever standing for a US leader in his first months in the White House.

Trump posted some of his usual gripes, fake news (otherwise known as news that paints him in a bad light) chief among them. "Look at rallies in Penn (sylvania), Iowa, Ohio". Trump tweeted on Monday.

The White House says Trump will be meeting with Cabinet secretaries and top aides on issues like health care and taxes while in New Jersey. Trump's base of support has shrunk to 28.6 percent who have a "strongly favorable" view of him, including only 44.9 percent of Republicans, versus 35.3 percent of voters in those four states who felt the same in April. Notably, support among white voters without a college degree - a key Trump demographic - had fallen off as well. But the president appeared to take issue with the poll, which was first reported on by Axios on Saturday, in a series of tweets Monday morning.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is conducting a criminal investigation, convening a grand jury to hear testimony about contacts between the Trump campaign and Russians and whether Trump obstructed justice by firing James Comey, another former FBI director, when he was leading the agency's Russia investigation before Mueller took over. He cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness like a child.
