A party came to an abrupt end Sunday morning in Texas after the floor full of party-goers collapsed underneath them into the apartment below. But the floor gave way under the weight of the dozens of students gathered at the party.

Until the building and its sprinkler system are repaired, the utilities will remain shut off, Denton Fire Department Battalion Chief Brian Glenn said.

Abiola Busari, the student who was hosting the homecoming celebration, told WFAA-TV that the party got out of hand when people he didn't know showed up.

But he caught Abdirahaman in the act, and the would-be thief pulled a knife and stabbed him, authorities said . Police say the incident happened Sunday evening in the dressing room area of the Mall of America's Macy's.

Carroll says it isn't the first time she's called the cops on the apartment above.

The Denton fire marshal said there was a party and people at the party were jumping up and down when the floor collapsed onto the second floor.

Only minor injuries were reported, Denton Police said.

Carroll says she and her roommates have complained about the loud and large parties over the past three months."This happens nearly every weekend", she said.

Detectives believe the collapse was caused by too much jumping.

Denton Police told FOX 4 they have received previous noise complaints, but people have mostly left the party by the time officers arrive.

"The university is here to help any of our students who may have been impacted", university officials said. "The Ridge is also arranging with structural engineers to assess the situation". The fire department says it will be up to the city to determine if there were any code violations.
