A major encounter broke out between dreaded criminals and police forces in New Delhi's Dwarka locality on Tuesday.

Initially, the most wanted criminals of Punjab were asked to surrender but when they started firing shots, police arrested them.

The incident took place after the police team conducted a joint raid at Gudia Properties at Dwarka Mor to arrest the wanted criminals.

No one was injured in the firing even though the shootout happened in a residential area, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) - southwest Shibesh Singh. Though five people have been caught, the police are still searching the area to look for one or more men who might have escaped.

"We have recovered 17 firearms, mostly pistols and rifles of different bore sizes, and more than a 100 cartridges".
