Sony's Phones Leak Ahead of MWC 2018

Coming from prolific leaker Evan Blass and posted at Venturebeat, the render shows that Sony has finally moved away from those large top and bottom bezels that were giving previous Xperia's a rather dated look. The XZ2 will arrive with a 5.7-inch display while the Compact variant will feature a 5-inch display instead.

Unfortunately the publication does not reveal any more information about these three smartphones that will be presented by Sony, but past rumors indicate that at least two of them will be dedicated to the top-of-the-line market.

Apple To Roll Out New AirPod Update
While the upgraded wireless chip is something we could expect, the water resistance feature is the one that seeks my attention. Per market research firm NPD Group's September 2017 report, AirPods have dominated the US earphones market since its launch.

What do you think about Sony's upcoming phones and teaser? This new flagship is powered with the much acclaimed Snapdragon 845 chip processor of Qualcomm and is also flagged by the advanced Android 8.0.0 Oreo version. The XZ2 will sport 3D glass on both sides, with an aluminium frame, while the XZ2 Compact will get a glass front, but a polycarbonate back panel. Both phones will have Full HD LCD screens protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

At the back, you get the same single 19MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, 4K HDR recording and super-slow motion capture as the Xperia XZ Premium, alongside a uniquely positioned fingerprint reader that will actually be functional in the USA for once. It will still be capable of recording in 4K HDR with super slow motion capture in FHD resolution.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, and you have to give props to Sony for managing to keep such a tight lid on the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact until just a few days ahead of the official MWC 2018 start. The Xperia XZ2 packs in a 3,180 mAh battery (which can be charged wirelessly), while the smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact makes do with a 2,870 battery (without wireless charging support). There are a pair of stereo speakers on the front which will feature a haptic feedback system that'll sync vibrations with sounds and a fingerprint reader on the back.
