Steven Smith accepts CA sanctions, will not appeal

They banned Smith and vice-captain David Warner for 12-months, while Bancroft is banned for nine months from playing domestic and worldwide cricket.

Warner was also levelled with a 12-month domestic and worldwide ban.

"In the back of my mind I suppose there is a tiny ray of hope that I may one day be given the privilege of playing for my country again, but I am resigned to the fact that that may never happen", he said. To any questions about his role in the ball-tampering, Warner answered with an obviously pre-crafted line about taking "full responsibility for the part I played in this".

Confirming that he will not be challenging the ban, Steve Smith tweeted, " I won't be challenging the sanctions. "Thank you to all those who have sent messages of support", Bancroft tweeted. Bancroft was banned for nine months.

Smith, came to the conclusion a day after the Australian Cricketers' Association said that the ban imposed on the trio - which includes David Warner and Cameron Bancroft should be reduced.

Affluenza teen Ethan Couch released from Texas jail
Couch's mother is now facing charges of money laundering and hindering apprehension of a felon for helping her son flee to Mexico. Five years ago, couch, who was 16 at the time, killed four people while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Speaking at a press conference at Sydney Airport upon his arrival, Smith had said, "I want to, as captain of the Australian cricket team, I take full responsibility".

Their decisions leave Warner as the last to confirm his stance but it's always been believed he was the most likely to challenge the sanctions after he was accused of being the ringleader in the affair. He has already accepted the sanctions and claims it will send a "strong message".

He added: "I think Australia cried with Steve Smith last Thursday, I certainly did".

Warner's lawyers have reportedly requested evidence gathered during CA's investigation after the scandal surfaced.

Bancroft, who used sandpaper to scratch the surface of the ball, said he had informed Cricket Australia he would serve his ban.

Marlins win 17-inning thriller on Miguel Rojas hit
Jeter, who homered in a win in his first opening day with the Yankees in 1996, had less success in his debut as the Marlins' CEO. But the Cubs bats bailed him out immediately as Willson Contreras' double in the top of the fourth gave the Cubs the lead back.

"To consider, for example, allowing the players to return to domestic cricket earlier and as a part of their rehabilitation".

Were the players treated unfairly?

Bancroft was caught by television cameras rubbing sandpaper on the ball during day three of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town before attempting to hide the paper down his pants.

"The two boys, when they did the press conference, they thought this would just be a slap on the wrist as every other one (incident of ball tampering) has been".
