Apple Music Has Surpassed Spotify In Paid US Subscribers

Both Apple Music and Spotify have just over 20 million paid subscribers in the USA, with Apple's service barely taking the lead. The source, a US-based, major distributor, shared a report detailing the subscriber tallies of several streaming music services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, and Sirius XM. In the meantime, Apple Music enjoys around 45 million subscribers around the world, all of which are paying ones as the service has no free tier. Spotify falls into the same bracket, but has now dropped into second place when it comes to popularity.

The data for 2018 also shows that Apple is experiencing a far stronger rate-of-growth in the U.S., suggesting a wider lead over the coming months. Spotify has over 70 million subscribers globally and about 160 million total users. Apple Music, however, is "a hair ahead", which is not a surprise. Apple now has the leading on-demand streaming service in the US.
