Serena Williams Gets Emotional Over Losing Wimbledon Amid Comeback

German tennis player Angelique Kerber has taken her first Wimbledon title after ousting none other than 23-time Grand Slam holder Serena Williams of the United States of America in the final.

Serena Williams vowed to use the pain of her shock Wimbledon final defeat against Angelique Kerber to fuel her bid for future Grand Slam glory.

Kerber made just five unforced errors compared to Williams' 24 as the German reversed the result of the 2016 final.

Williams failed to equal Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam titles, but didn't believe the delay had any effect on her performance.

The seven-time champion has lost only one set en route to the final.

Adding: "I look forward to it". It's always an honor to share the court with her.

Wimbledon 2018 -- Juan Martin del Potro reaches quarterfinals
Anderson or Isner to reach first SW19 final? He is the second South African to reach the final, after Brian Norton 97 years ago. Nadal, 32, and Djokovic, 31, meet in a highly anticipated Wimbledon semi-final at about 16:30 BST on Friday.

Kerber should in theory pose a much sterner test in what is a repeat of the 2016 final, which Williams won in straight sets.

Williams had produced a stunning comeback to competitive tennis, reaching the Wimbledon final on her first attempt after returning from maternity leave.

Williams held to force Kerber to serve it out but the 30-year-old refused to yield.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge arrived in their preppy best on Saturday to watch the Wimbledon final between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber. She could barely walk out of her house eight months ago.

Kerber dropped to the grass when a netted service return gave her victory.

Unlike Duchess Kate with her signature blowout, Meghan has her hair pinned back in a loose bun, but otherwise they appear to have coordinated their looks nicely.

Orders of LeBron James Lakers jerseys spike
Considering the moves the Lakers made after coming to terms with LeBron, it's not clear they have done that this offseason. Love, 29, is a five-time All-Star, and was a key member of the Cavs teams that appeared in four-consecutive NBA Finals.

Speaking after the match, Kerber said: 'Serena you are a great person and a champion, you are coming back and you are such an inspiration for everybody, for all of us and every person watching.

"It's obviously disappointing but I am just getting started", said an emotional Williams after losing in the Wimbledon final for the first time since 2008. Now, she's playing for anyone that's ever been a mom.

"I feel like I have a ways to go", Williams said.

"I also needed to find the motivation after 2016, which was incredible".

"I was in a really fortunate situation where I know my body well, and I am who I am", she said.

As for Kate and Meghan... what a flawless day out!
